I read a wonderful article today on the effort by one lawmaker to start an amendment to the US Constitution that would prohibit anonymous political donations.This is the best thing we can possibly do.
Many people have differing opinions on how money is utilized and many want to limit the amounts but I believe that if we put names behind the donations then things will change dramatically.
For instance, if there is a big push from the public to make a change to the way mining approvals are given and the change does not happen, if we see that there was an enormous donation from the mining industry then we have the info needed to kick someone's butt out of congress on the next election and get someone interested in all his or her constituents rather than just the ones with money.
